Direct fit kits are made for simple and easy plug & play installation and designed individually for each BMW chassis - E30, E34, E36, E39, E46, E8X, E9X, F3X, F80, F81, F82, F83, F84

BMW Shifter can be installed directly on top of a tunnel using the universal fit pad that comes with every BMW shifter by default. While this method works and provides a stable basis for the shifter but it does require drilling holes in the tunnel, additional hardware, making a custom dust cover and other small modifications.
